years ago at the world art group, we started to play around with putting our images onto products. we made templates to show different shapes that would represent plates, napkins, etc, and would take a set of prints and re-work the components to fit those shapes in new designs. over the years this developed into a four-page pdf that included the original art prints, a template with new designs from those prints, a page of repeat patterns from those prints, and a page of product mock-ups with the new patterns/designs. my favorite part has always been making the repeat patterns—especially the “scatter” patterns, which tend to be busier and more challenging to make. this part of my job was one that I really enjoyed doing as it combined creativity with problem-solving much of the time. i’ve included some collections that i’ve worked on below.
